5,000 Older Voters in New Juaben South Constituency Join MPs’ ‘Shop and Go’ Initiative | General News

Over the weekend, at least 5,000 Seventies in the New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region turned out to meet the Member of Parliament for the New Juaben South Constituency, Hon. It benefited from the ‘Shop and Go’ initiative launched by . Michael Okyere Baafi.

The ‘Shop and Go’ initiative, which started about four years ago, aims to support older people in the constituency.

The initiative started in Koforidua in 2020 and continues to this day. This is part of lawmakers’ efforts to connect and reconnect seniors in the community.

It also aims to reduce stress on very poor septuagenarians in society.

For this year’s event, the MP distributed various items including potato tubers, rice, bananas, cassava vegetables, poultry and pieces of clothing.

Beneficiaries were also provided with free health screenings.

The legislator stated that the effect of the initiative was very good because the financial burden on them was alleviated.

Sweetie. Michael Okyere Baafi added that he sees it as a duty and responsibility to share everything he has with the less privileged in society.

He said the initiative will continue even after he completes his term as an MP.

“I will not stop this initiative even after serving as an MP. I will be happy to do this every year.” Okyere said Baafi.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Member of Parliament in an interview with the media and asked for this to continue after his term.

They stated that this initiative was the first of its kind in the Constituency and provided them with the opportunity to reunite with old friends.
