However, his acting journey includes many notable roles, including the role of the villain in the popular TV series Sanjivani. Rupali recently joined TV actresses Samridhii Shukla, Anita Raj, Shivangi Joshi and Reem Shaikh at the TV Actresses Round Table 2024 organized by Directors Kut Production on their YouTube channel.

During the discussion, Rupali Ganguly talked about a troubling experience she had while playing the antagonist Simran in Sanjivani. He shared that some viewers cannot distinguish between an actor and his on-screen character. Rupali reflected on how challenging it can be when people don’t understand that actors are just doing their job, bringing their characters to life.

Recalling an incident, Rupali Ganguly said that she was going to a show with her leading lady Gurdeep Kohli. At that time, a woman approached Gurdeep, pulled him aside and asked him to stay away from her. He went on to explain that the woman then addressed him as “kamini”.

Rupali said, “Gurdeep and I went to Lokhandwala for a show and a lady came up to us. She pulled Gurdeep aside and told him, ‘Juhi, uy dur reh, woh acchi nahi hai’.” Then he walked past me calling me “kamini”.

Adding to her concerns, Rupali stated that her father, a film producer, was worried about her marriage prospects due to his portrayal of an antagonist on television. Determined to change the perception of the audience, the actress later took up the iconic comedy role of Monisha in Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai.

Talking About Sanjivani: A Medical Blessing is a popular medical drama that aired from 2002 to 2005. It was about the lives of four medical interns (Juhi, Rahul, Simran and Omi) at Sanjivani Hospital. Created by Siddharth P Malhotra, the show featured a talented cast including Mohnish Behl, Gurdeep Kohli and Mihir Mishra in pivotal roles.

On the professional side, Rupali Ganguly is now working in the popular TV show Anupamaa It started in 2020. Starring Rupali Ganguly in the lead role, the show is produced by Deepa Shahi and Rajan Shahi under the banner of Director Kut Productions. Adapted from the Bengali serial Sreemoyee, the story follows Anupamaa, a housewife who decides to rebuild her life after her husband’s betrayal.

It focuses on the journey of personal development, self-discovery and balancing family and work. The show also tackles relatable topics like gender roles, infidelity, and empowerment, and it resonates with many viewers.
