Joe Biden allows Kiev to fire US rockets deep into Russia – politician warns it ‘risks World War III’ | World News

Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to start firing US-supplied rockets deep into Russia as Sir Keir Starmer prepares to press for “more support” for Kiev at the G20 summit.

Mr Biden’s policy change means Kiev can now use the policy Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) for long range attacks, two American officials told Sky News’ US partner network NBC News.

Ukraine plans to carry out its first such attacks in the coming days, the sources said, but without disclosing details due to operational security concerns.

The US has eased restrictions on the use of ATACMS, which has a range of up to 300 kilometers. Russia begins deploying North Korean ground troops To support their own forces in conflict.

The development was condemned by Biden officials as a possible expansion of the war.

Meanwhile, the British prime minister said he had “no plans” to meet the Russian president as world leaders gather for the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.

Mr Putin will not attend the two-day summit, which starts on Monday, after saying in October that his presence would “disrupt the normal functioning of this forum”. Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov will attend instead.

Speaking to reporters on his way to the summit, he added: “On Tuesday we come to the 1,000th day of this conflict.

“This means 1,000 days of Russian aggression, 1,000 days of massive impact and sacrifice to the Ukrainian people, and recently we have seen North Korean troops working with the Russians, and this has serious consequences.

“On the one hand, I think this shows Russia’s desperation, but this has serious consequences for European security (…) and Indo-Pacific security, and that’s why I think we need to double down on increasing our support for Ukraine. This is the most important issue on my G20 agenda .

“There has to be full support, no matter how long it takes, and that’s absolutely at the top of my agenda and supporting more support for Ukraine.”

The latest developments come after Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine on Sunday; Mr. Zelenskyy claimed that Moscow carried out this attack. 120 missiles and 90 drones.
