Man arrested for arson: Spartanburg Co. Sheriff’s Office

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man was arrested for setting his home on fire after an argument, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called to an arson on Old Birch Road, where they found the fire department extinguishing the fire. The victim, Jackie Gregory, said she believed her nephew started the fire because of an argument between them.

Gregory told deputies that his nephew, 28-year-old Timothy Michael Bridges Jr., said the argument was about Bridges “not being able to get his way” and that he told Gregory he “wished him dead.”

Deputies said Gregory did not live in the house and was left to him by his father. The house contained Gregory’s belongings and he was repairing the house to make it livable.

A witness told deputies that Bridges commented that he was going to burn the house down on Friday. The witness also told deputies that Bridges walked to the address, made no comment about the fire and “immediately jumped into the shower.”

Deputies said another witness recorded the incident on door camera, which showed a white male standing near the residence when the fire started.

The suspect was wearing a dark-colored hoodie, and deputies said Bridges’ clothing description matched the suspect in the video.

Bridges was arrested and charged with second-degree arson. His bond was set at $15,000.
