KALONA, Iowa (KCRG) – Kalona General Store and Eatery will temporarily close with the goal of reopening under new ownership next year.

The company’s current owners, David and Susan Finley, said they plan to retire. They said the closing date would be on or before December 31st.

This will be a new chapter for the current owners after 17 years in business.

The Finleys announced the sale of the store’s assets to Best of Iowa. The Finleys said the new owner plans to do some renovations and renovations while trying to maintain the charm and atmosphere of the old store.

Once the work is completed, the new owners plan to reopen the store in March 2025.

In the announcement, the Finleys thanked their friends and customers and said they look forward to opening this new chapter.
