Police were called to a home on Eulalie Avenue in the area of King Street East and Ritson Road South around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

“Officers arrived on scene and located a 48-year-old female showing obvious signs of trauma,” said Acting Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss told reporters outside her home Sunday morning.

Police said first responders performed CPR and the woman was then taken to a trauma center in the Toronto area. However, he was declared dead a short time later.

“Her husband, a 41-year-old man, is in police custody and has been charged with first-degree murder,” Bortoluss said.

Oshawa murder Durham police said they are investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, after an injured woman was found at a home on Eulalie Avenue in Oshawa.

He added that the couple’s two children, both five years old, as well as an elderly woman, were also at home at the time of the incident. However, none of them were injured.

On Sunday, yellow caution tape could be seen wrapped around the house and a police vehicle could be seen parked outside.

One man who spoke to CP24 said he woke up to the flashing lights of what “looked like a million police cars” and his family looked outside to see what it was.

“They took a woman out and tried to resuscitate her, saw our neighbor taken out and arrested, and yes, the children were taken from the house,” Ron Mohr said. “It’s very unfortunate because we’ve been here 18 years and I’ve never seen anything like this before.”

Another woman told CP24 she was shocked to wake up and learn the news in her neighborhood, which she described as generally friendly.

“They’re very, very nice neighbors, but I don’t remember him,” June Frances Broomer said of her neighbor who was arrested. He described the situation as “frightening”.

Bortoluss said investigators are urging anyone with information about the shooting to talk to police.

He also said anyone who needs help with domestic violence can use the service.

“When it comes to intimate partner violence, there is no geographic location. “It really does impact anywhere and everywhere, and so we really want to emphasize that resources are available,” he said. “And if you need us, if you need victim services, we’re all here to provide assistance.”

Police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
