Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has warned his team not to get too comfortable in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho at the Honneur Stadium on Monday evening.

Start time 21:00 CAT (TU, GMT+2)

CURRENT FORM

The Atlas Lions won all their qualifying matches, although they were guaranteed a place in the next tournament as they would host the tournament.

They emphatically defeated Gabon 5-1 in their last match and the Moroccans currently sit top of Group B with 15 points.

The last time the team faced Lesotho in September, they defeated them 1-0 at the Adrar Stadium in the Souss-Massa region of their country.

For Likuena, the country’s chances of qualifying for the next Afcon are slim, but they will certainly be proud of this encounter.

WHAT WAS SAID

Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has been impressed with how his side have handled the qualifiers but is not flaunting their excellent performance so far.

“We won against Gabon by five goals to one and managed to improve many aspects of our game,” he said.

“We were more solid both defensively and offensively. This performance reflects our progress, but we know we still have important work ahead of us.”

The coach also demonstrated his determination to ensure the team continues its impressive form and plays a part in its growth.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Youssef En-Nesyri, Morocco – The striker, who has been traded to Turkish Super League side Fenerbahce, scored in the team’s 5-1 win against Gabon and will pose a threat to Likuena’s defense if fit.

Neo Mokhachane, Lesotho – The 28-year-old Jwaneng Galaxy midfielder was on target in Likuena’s encounter with the Central African Republic and will be hoping to show what he is made of against the strong Atlas Lions side.

FROM STEP TO TOP

The two countries have faced each other only once; This was the match they met in the Afcon qualifiers in Morocco in September. Atlas Lions won the match 1-0, meaning they have a perfect record against Likuena.
