Rams’ Sean McVay Offers Insights on Learning from Loss

The Los Angeles Rams’ disappointing loss to the Miami Dolphins will either be the loss that caps the Rams’ season or the one the team uses to fuel its postseason hopes. Fortunately, the Rams should improve in the playoff race in the second half of the season.

The Rams, who entered Monday night’s game on a three-game winning streak, went back to the drawing board to correct their mistakes against the Dolphins after the loss.

Rams head coach Sean McVay said he is still working on an offensive plan for the team moving forward.

“We’re still figuring out what personnel and what specific guys you want to put in certain spots,” McVay said.

“I think in most cases you look at it and say, ‘Okay, we’ve got eight games left.’

“But you also have a responsibility to say: ‘Let’s do what we think is best for the next game and let’s continue to monitor that.’ These are some of the things that will be reflected.

“I think what we’re constantly learning about this team is, what is the make-up? Who are the consistent guys that we have? Ultimately, what are the ways to bring them together on offense, defense and special teams?

McVay plans to use the lessons he’s learned since becoming the youngest head coach in National Football League history when taking over in Los Angeles.

“That was something that was different when you think about being in year eight. There were some things that were consistent and some things that were different, but ultimately how do we figure out what’s best for the (New England) Patriots game?

“Especially with our crime, the personnel, the plan, all that kind of stuff is our to evaluate

The Rams need to bounce back against the Patriots as the NFC West-leading Arizona Cardinals continue to rise. Los Angeles must keep pace with the league’s progress.

McVay hopes his team can achieve that.
