Barrie police make arrests in ‘violent’ incidents downtown

Two men were arrested Saturday in Barrie’s north end for allegedly being in possession of a loaded firearm and a large amount of fentanyl, police said.

City police arrested two men on Davidson Street in Barrie’s north end yesterday afternoon for allegedly being in possession of a loaded firearm and a large amount of fentanyl.

The arrests were related to an investigation into “violent incidents” that occurred in downtown Barrie in the early morning hours of Saturday.

According to the police, a series of violent incidents occurred between 02:00 and 03:30 at night.

Police said the incident happened on Dunlop Street East in the city’s centre.

They did not provide further information at this time, but said details would be shared as the investigation allows.

Police are continuing to investigate and are asking for the public’s help in obtaining any video footage.
