NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said Friday it is investigating the discovery of human remains found in Four Creeks State Forest in Callahan.

Deputies said they found skeletal remains in the woods along the Old Wood Shingle Mill Trail.

According to the sheriff’s statement, the bodies will be sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the identity and cause of death.

Authorities have not released further details about the discovery but said they would provide more information when it becomes available.
