Tri-State woman brings students free dresses, suits for dance

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A Cincinnati woman is traveling around the Tri-State with hundreds of dresses, suits and accessories to provide free to students so they can enjoy school dances.

RuthAnn Webb, founder Blessed with a Dress, Suit and MoreHe says his goal is to ensure that no student says no to going to a dance because they don’t have money to buy clothes.

Webb says her mission began when she had a few formal dresses to donate and realized they were truly needed.

“It all started about 10 years ago with a pair of dresses and a bag,” Webb explains. “We counted today and we had 769 dresses.”

On Nov. 15, Webb brought racks of dresses, suits, shoes and jewelry to East High School in Brown County to help students find outfits for the homecoming dance in January.

“When I was here last year, we had students crying in the bathroom because they felt so beautiful in their dresses and they had never tried on a dress before,” Webb says.

East High students tell FOX19 if it weren’t for Webb, many of them wouldn’t have outfits for their upcoming dances.

“Kenwood is the closest and coolest thing around; it’s like an hour away, if not longer,” says East High School student Emilee Moermond. “Gas money is expensive. I come here and see the most beautiful dresses. They are so sparkly, there are some really beautiful brands. People donated them.”

For those wishing to donate, please schedule a time to meet. Blessed with a Dress, Suit and More Facebook group. Webb says these are the items they need most:

  • plus size dresses
  • Plus size suit jackets
  • Extra small suit pants (30 inches and under)
