Arrests made in game shooting at USC; Relatives defend unfair accusations against two men

Three people were arrested after multiple people were shot near a University of South Carolina football game in early November. Still, the families of the two men accused said the men were wrongly attributed to the story.

According to investigators, Richland County Deputies responded to a shooting on Bluff Road on Nov. 2 around 11 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found a man involved in the fight suffering from a gunshot wound. They later learned that two innocent spectators leaving the USC game were also shot.

After investigation, deputies charge Wendell Snow as the shooter. He was arrested at his home weeks later on November 14, but while executing that warrant, deputies also arrested two men at the home, Dominique Rivers and Terrell Singletary. “During the execution of the search warrant, a stolen firearm and narcotics were located in the residence and two other individuals came from there,” Richland County Investigator Daniel Leyden said.

Matt Rivers, River’s father and Singletary’s relative, said the boys had no connection to the attack, although they were arrested. “This is their mother’s house, this is their stepfather’s,” Rivers’ father said. “So my son and his cousin are being arrested for a different reason because their stepfather was facing attempted murder charges when they came to arrest him.”

Rivers expressed concern that their names were linked to the shooting for security purposes. “I feel like this puts Terrell’s and Dominique’s lives in danger,” Rivers said.

Investigators confirmed that Snow was the only person charged with the shooting, but the discovery of a stolen gun and drugs in the home led to the arrests of Singletary and Dominique. P.

Perry Bradley, CEO and Founder of Building Better Communities, praised the community for stepping up and helping investigators find the man responsible, but expressed how people have become more careless about their actions. “We’re in a time where people aren’t thinking,” Bradley said.

Snow is charged with two counts of attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon during a crime and possession of marijuana. Singletary is charged with possession of a stolen gun and Rivers is charged with possession of a Schedule V drug.
