The Camden City School District advisory board elected Derrick Gallashaw and Gabriel Camacho to serve on the board through January 2026.

Gallashaw is the senior director of Mighty Writers in Camden, a nonprofit organization that hosts writing workshops for children. He said a school board should work on policies and programs that help students thrive.

Camacho is the code enforcement director for the city of Camden. He served as a police officer in Camden for more than two decades, both on the former city-run force and the current county-run force. Between his time in Camden, he moved to Harissonburg, Virginia, where he recently worked. served as the best cop.
