Reminder that Alameda County District Attorney refused to send harsh emails to supporters

(KRON) – Recalled Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price has finally addressed the results of last week’s election, in which voters green-lighted a ballot measure to oust her. On Friday, the embattled district attorney issued an impassioned statement in an email to supporters, going after him and insisting there were still votes to be counted.

“I am honored to be a part of this diverse community and to serve as ‘The People’s Advocate,'” Price said. “There are still a large number of ballots that need to be counted. The Registrar of Voters estimates that more than 200,000 ballots still need to be counted.”

The Associated Press called for the recall last Friday, confirming that Price had been recalled, with 64% of Alameda County voters supporting the recall and 36% opposing it.

In his defiant statement on Friday, Price implied that the recall was the product of “plutocracy,” defined as “the power or rule of the wealthy or the wealthy.” Dictionary.com.

“A group of very wealthy people, led by Phillip Dreyfuss and Isaac Abid, may have successfully overturned a democratic election for the first time in Alameda County history by spending millions of dollars on paid media and paid political operatives,” Price said.

“We have not forgotten that this unprecedented step occurred during the worst election in modern history, in which we elected as President of the United States a racist, misogynist convicted and unrepentant criminal who led a violent insurgent effort to overturn November’s election. 2020 elections,” Price said.

“The merchants of fear, hatred and discord have gained ground in our country and in Alameda County,” he continued. “They loudly (and proudly) declared that we had taken a huge step backwards.”

Price reiterated that he would “wait until every vote in Alameda County is counted.”

He signed his letter with the following phrase in Latin: a luta continuaThis means “the fight continues”.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, who won her re-election bid following the ouster of prosecutor Chesa Boudin in 2022, considered recalling both Price and Thao this week.

“The Democratic party must change (and) take a tougher approach on crime as Californians (and) Americans demand public safety as a fundamental right,” Jenkins said. “We cannot allow anarchy in our cities; voters made that clear in San Francisco, Alameda (and) Los Angeles counties.”

Progressive Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon, formerly San Francisco District Attorney, lost his reelection bid to former Republican federal prosecutor Nathan Hochman.
