RUMFORD, Maine (WMTW) – The Rumford man accused of crashing his pickup truck into his neighbor’s house on election night, setting it on fire and then shooting into the house is now charged with three counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of murder. arson.

The charges filed against 59-year-old Billy Morvent Thursday evening include three felonies, in addition to threatening with a deadly weapon and felony criminal mischief.

As of Friday morning, Morvent was still in the hospital but was expected to attend the hearing via video conference on Friday afternoon.

Thurston said their neighbor, Morvent, was near the barn around 8 p.m. Tuesday. he drove his truck to their house and started a fire with what appeared to be a flare gun. Then they heard hundreds of gunshots.

Thurston said he, his partner and his cousin hid in a ditch for hours. the police called for Morvent, who lives near Route 232.
