Both cars are covered in dust that has settled on their bodies over the years, and the auction house wants the car preserved before Saturday’s auction.

“Find dust, as it’s known in the classic car world; you can’t put a price on it; it’s priceless; it’s part of their story,” Mr Rabett explained.

A tax disc that expired in 1982 is visible on Talbot’s windshield, which Talbot admits is “a classic in itself.”

“It has been in storage for a long time, so it is definitely ready for a new owner to give it a new life,” he added.

The Mercedes has an estimated retail price of £30,000 – £35,000, while the Talbot is estimated at £6,000 – £8,000.
