A man died Thursday afternoon following an accidental shooting in Gunbarrel, authorities said.

According to Boulder County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Haverfield, a report came in just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday that a 60-year-old man shot himself while cleaning or repairing his gun. A more specific location was not immediately available.

“He was given medical assistance at the scene, including CPR, and transported to a local hospital, where unfortunately he was pronounced dead a short time later,” Haverfield said.
