If you shop at ALDI, you know that the store has “here today, gone tomorrow” sales.

As an ALDI supershopper, I rarely miss these specials, but last year I went to the store too late to purchase one of my favorite culinary superheroes: Season’s Choice Pre-Portioned Garlic or Basil Cubes.

But not this year and I’m stocking up as long as they’re available.

Things I Love About Season’s Choice Pre-Portioned Garlic and Herb Cubes

I love using fresh garlic and basil in my cooking, but as the weather gets colder, it becomes harder for me to find locally grown herbs. While garlic isn’t difficult to obtain, chopping it is a pain, not to mention a bit time-consuming, and it’s not something I can do when I’m pressed for time.

The other thing about buying fresh herbs is that unless I’m making a large batch of pesto, I usually don’t use up all of my basil in a single cooking process. If I don’t plan properly, my refrigerator will break down and I’ll end up wasting it.

Enter frozen herbs. I usually stock these babies at a specialty gourmet market and they cost about $5. But ALDI’s Season’s Choice brand costs just $2.79 for a 3-ounce or 24 one-teaspoon serving of pre-packaged frozen garlic or basil.
