On Friday afternoon, a youth died while bathing in Kamala river in Uttarbahinighat of Siraha’s Karjanha Municipality-1 and another youth went on duty.

15-year-old Laxman Sah of Mirchaiya Municipality-5 drowned in the Uttarbahini Ghat, while 16-year-old Roshan Mandal went missing.

Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and family members immediately launched a search operation. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Panchakumar Bakhu, chief of the District Police Office in Mirchaiya, Laxman’s body was found floating in the river around 1.45 pm. Authorities are preparing to send the body for autopsy.

“Efforts to locate Roshan Mandal are ongoing and private security teams have been deployed to assist in the search,” police said.

Kamala River experiences a significant influx of visitors during the Kartik Purnima festival, increasing the risk of such incidents.
