Reuben Goodall is feeling fine but the Super2 final is likely to be over after a horrific crash in qualifying on Friday morning.

In the final minutes of Race 1 Super2 qualifying, Goodall was pushing hard but found the right-hand wall as Senna exited the Chicane.

The impact saw the right front tire thrown off the ZB Commodore almost instantly, while the right rear brake rotor was also dislodged.

As a result, the 21-year-old was faced with the terrifying situation of driving without brakes towards the tires at the end of Wakefield Street.

Eventually Goodall broke the tire barrier and sneaked through the gap in the escape road.

Surprisingly, the entire tire barrier, fence and concrete wall collapsed following the crash, which destroyed the front end of the Gomersall Motorsport Commodore.

Most importantly, Goodall is OK but feels bad for her team after the “biggest crash” of her career.

“This was definitely the biggest accident I have ever had and it was pretty scary,” Goodall told AUTO ACTION.

“I’ll wake up sore tomorrow, but right now I feel ready to start again.

“It was a hard blow but it was a testament to the safety of these vehicles.

“I want to apologize to my sponsors, fans and team. It’s an unfortunate end to the year.

“When I hit the wall at 3am and took out the right front assembly and the right rear brake rotor, there was nothing I could do.

“The brake pedal was taking a long time and the vehicle was not slowing down at all.

“I put it in a few gears and consciously didn’t want to ruin the engine either.

“So you have to decide what you’re going to hit because you know you’re going to hit something.

“Hoping to slow the car down as much as possible, I drove towards the far wall and eventually we got there.”

“Fortunately I’m fine, but the car is not and we’ll probably be done for the weekend.”

Goodall lost visibility when she hit the barriers.

He admitted he feared trouble beyond the tires but said the car suddenly stopped.

“I was glad there were no police officers on the road, but as soon as I hit the barrier the car stopped, which was great,” he said.

“I didn’t know what was behind these walls and it could have been quite scary.

“Luckily no one was hurt.”

The incident was demoralizing for Goodall, who had started the weekend well following the news that Tickford had been selected to join the famed Ford team’s Super2 squad in 2025.

Goodall admitted she felt comfortable in the car after placing 10th in total practice times.

“Practices 1 and 2 were pretty strong for us,” he said.

“I was struggling a little bit with the curb hits, these cars are very good against them.

“We had a good pace in the qualifying session.

“I wasn’t very comfortable with the car and we made some changes to take into account the incoming track.”
