Dehradun District: The families of six students killed in a road accident in Dehradun are yet to lodge a formal complaint with the police, which may prompt authorities to take action, The Times of India reported. The horrific accident that took place at Dehradun’s ONGC cafeteria led to the death of three women and three men traveling in an Innova car around 1.30 am on Tuesday, while one person was injured.

Police are consulting legal experts on possible steps forward after an initial investigation showed the truck driver may not have been at fault.

According to ToI’s report, Inspector KC Bhatt of Cantt police station stated that they were waiting for a formal complaint from the families of the victims before taking up the case.

  • A speeding Innova car reportedly crashed into the back of a container truck, turning the four-wheeler into a mangled wreck. While 6 students died in the accident, 1 student was seriously injured.

  • The six students who died in the Dehradun accident were identified as Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20) and Guneet (20) from Himachal Pradesh. 19), all from Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

  • The seventh passenger, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), was seriously injured and was receiving treatment at Synergy Hospital, officials said. Details about the students’ institutions and where they were before the crash remain unclear.

  • Rescuers had to cut down the car to remove the bodies and injured people. The victims’ bodies were severely damaged, some were rescued in a disfigured state.

  • According to media reports, five of the victims were from Dehradun and one from Chamba. Reports suggest that the group was in the vehicle late at night before the accident occurred.
