3 Colorado teens arrested for shoplifting after being chased by deputies

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – Three teenagers were arrested Monday night for allegedly trying to rob a convenience store and chase deputies.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call from a concerned Walgreens employee on Timberline Road in Highlands Ranch. Deputies said the employee reported that three men in the store were wearing a black T-shirt and black mask and that he believed the store was being robbed.

Deputies said they called again on the road, but no one answered. When they got there, three teenagers ran out of the store.

One of the teens was immediately arrested, but the other two ran from deputies. Deputies said someone went into a neighborhood and jumped over fences into residential backyards. Deputies praised him for stopping, but he ignored them. He was eventually taken into custody in the backyard of a home in Amherst CT.

The third young man was arrested a short time later.

Deputies said a 16-year-old boy from Parker was taken to a juvenile detention center. He faces charges of theft, obstruction, trespassing and resisting arrest. Two other teenagers from Highland Farm, ages 16 and 14, were released back to their parents on possible theft charges.
