Raiders’ Coach Gives Important Information About Bye Week Development

Few teams needed a bye week as much as the Las Vegas Raiders did two weeks ago. The Silver-Blacks entered the week as a worn-out and injured team with a five-game losing streak.

Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham explained what the Raiders defense has accomplished in its down time.

“It’s definitely a chance for self-discovery and seeing where we are in terms of trends and trying to break those trends as we go,” Graham said.

“More importantly, this is just a review. A chance to get a report card on the basics.

“Where are we fundamentally as we go into November? That’s really what’s going to get the engine going as we move forward.”

“Whether it’s tackling, blocking a breakdown, passing the defense, providing pressure and coverage.”

Graham’s leave helped the team On and off the field as players and coaches are able to spend time away from football and regrouping.

“So (the bye week) allowed us to be able to review that, give the players good feedback on where we are, what we’re doing well, what we’re doing poorly, what we need to eliminate. That’s one of the things we do as coaches. That’s our main emphasis.”

“Then of course there’s a chance to reset. Everyone took a break.

“Take a break from football during football season if you can; it’s hard for all of us, players and coaches included. It’s a chance to reset and spend some time with family.”
