Is the household full of lawyers? Meet the family behind the youngest to pass the California bar exam

What were you doing when you were 17?

Sophia Park, 17, of Tulare County, became the youngest person to pass the California bar exam.

And you will never guess whose record he broke before. Their own brothers!

KMPH learned that it would be a family full of lawyers.

It seems they are not the only two in the family who aspire to become lawyers.

Now two more brothers are following in their footsteps.

Sophia’s brother Peter became the first in his family to pass the bar exam in 2023 at the age of 17 years and eleven months.

Sophia narrowly broke her record by a few months.

She talked about her parents and described how Peter was doing while waiting for the results.

“They’re very proud. But I think my brother was also saying, ‘Is it going to pass? Isn’t it going to pass? Because we’re not quite sure what the standard is that it has to pass. Our reaction video was shot on YouTube.

Sophia currently works as a law clerk for the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office.

He is now the second person in his family to become a prosecutor and plans to join the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office along with his brother.

“There are actually no lawyers in our family. So we are the first. My father was a patent agent while my mother lived in Orange County. “He was a Korean dessert baking teacher,” Sophia said.

Next? Their little sister Sarah said.

“He is 14 years old and in his second year of law school. He passed the baby bar exam, or first-year law student exam, in August this year,” he said.

Sophia said that from now on, she will be the youngest in the family at eight years old.

He hasn’t started law school yet, but he’s already taking on this role.

“He actually wants to be a lawyer. Every year on Halloween, our office has an event where kids come to our office and go trick-or-treating. He dressed up as a lawyer and borrowed my brother’s briefcase with candy stuffed inside the briefcase.”

Four of the Park brothers are now breaking new ground as California’s youngest lawyers.

I want to thank everyone at the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office for supporting me and also my family and my family. I couldn’t have done this without them.

Sophia said she will be sworn in as a licensed attorney in March 2025, after she turns 18.

Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward said in a statement that he and his office are excited to be a part of Sophia and Peter’s continued success.

“Sophia’s incredible accomplishments are evident, and as an office family we couldn’t be prouder,” Ward added in part.
