Raptors Share Health Update on Scottie Barnes and Injured Group

The Toronto Raptors appear to be on the mend.

All five of Toronto’s injured players were seen taking part in practice drills after Thursday afternoon’s practice as the group continues to slowly work towards a comeback. None of them are expected to return this week, but it isn’t expected to be long before reinforcements arrive for the Raptors.

Scottie Barnes was seen working out wearing a black mask as he tries to bounce back from an orbital bone fracture. He has not yet been allowed to contact and will be re-evaluated next week before a more definitive timetable is released.

Immanuel Quickley was training with only his right hand while wearing a protective sleeve on his left elbow due to a UCL sprain. The organization will be re-evaluated in a week before determining next steps.

Bruce Brown has not yet been cleared for contact, but he appears to be making progress as he heads into his first season following offseason knee surgery. Following Thursday’s practice, the patient did weight training on the side while trying to strengthen his right knee.

Kelly Olynyk was also not cleared for contact, but was seen shooting around after practice. He has yet to play this season as he has been dealing with a back injury since the preseason.

Ja’Kobe Walter will have a follow-up appointment for his injured AC joint on Tuesday before the organization shares another update on his health status.

Toronto will open a back-to-back on Friday night when the Detroit Pistons come to town at 7 p.m. This will be a breakout game for the Raptors, who will travel to Boston on Saturday night.
