Defendant Nima Momeni cross-examined – NBC Bay Area

Tensions were high and escalated in a San Francisco courtroom Thursday as the prosecution cross-examined murder defendant Nima Momeni in the stabbing death of Cash App founder Bob Lee.

There were several heated moments during a morning meeting between a prosecutor and Momeni, who is accused of fatally stabbing Lee in the early morning hours of April 4, 2023, in a secluded San Francisco neighborhood.

In the gallery, Momeni’s mother was visibly shaking her head when asked how angry a brother could get after learning his sister had allegedly been sexually assaulted.

Lee’s family members were also in the courtroom and were heard coughing during Momeni’s testimony.

Momeni first took the stand in his own defense on Wednesday, describing the moments leading up to and following Lee’s fatal stabbing. Momeni testified that the two men were taking drugs in the car and when they got out, Lee pulled the murder weapon from his own jacket and attacked Momeni.

On Thursday, prosecutors asked Momeni to describe the statement she made just before Lee attacked her that night. He replied: “If I had known this was my last night on the town, I would have spent it with my family instead of (expletive) at the strip club.”

Prosecutors argue that Lee came to the city for his family and had good relations with them.

Momeni had previously told jurors that Lee walked away from the scene because he did not realize he had been stabbed multiple times. And he claimed he learned Lee was dead the next day.
