Police arrested suspect A, who is in his 30s, in the basement of Ilwon Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at around 19:00 last night, a day after the body was found.

As a result of the investigation, it was confirmed that A was planned to be promoted to active army lieutenant colonel serving in a unit under the Ministry of National Defense in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do.

At the time of his arrest, he was transferred to a unit in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The police sent A to the Gangwon Police Department for investigation last night.

According to the investigation, the deceased Mr. B was a 33-year-old woman who was a fixed-term officer and worked in the same unit as Mr. A.

He is a civilian because his sentence has recently expired, but Mr. B was a civilian at the time of the crime.

Mr. A and Mr. B had an argument at around 15.00 on Friday, the 25th of last month, in a vehicle inside the military unit where their transfer was planned and their term of duty had expired.

Meanwhile, A strangled B to death and hid his body by covering it with clothes.

Later that night, the body was brutally mutilated with a prepared weapon at a construction site planned to be demolished near the unit.

And a day later, on Saturday, the 26th of last month, it was investigated that he moved to Hwacheon, where he worked more than 10 years ago, and threw the damaged body into a river near the Bukhangang River.

It was stated that two people working in the same office had a fight recently.

The cause of the clash was not clarified by the police, citing privacy and the situation of the grieving family.

However, while suspect A was planned to be transferred at the time of the crime, the deceased B’s employment contract was planned to end, so it is also checked whether there is a connection.

Previously, when the body was found, police quickly identified the victim by performing DNA tests as well as fingerprint identification.

After the suspect, who was in frequent contact with the victim, was identified as a result of phone and CCTV analysis, A, who was wandering near the house, was caught in a short time.

And yesterday I found a few more bodies near the pier on Hwacheon crucian island.

Divers, unmanned aerial vehicles and search dogs were mobilized from the morning to recover the body and obtain additional evidence.

A little while ago, around 11.30, news came that the entire funeral had been removed.

There were many difficulties as it was confirmed that A had collected stones from around the river in a plastic bag when disposing of the damaged body.

Disaster and safety rescue teams and police underwater scientific research teams have been deployed to remove all bodies before they are lost below the dam, and we plan to ask the National Forensic Service to assess them in the future.
