Justin Herbert Sunday Night Football Feature

With Week 11 on the horizon, ‘Football Justin’ will soon get his chance to shine on the national stage when the Bolts host the Bengals Sunday Night Football.

While Herbert has long been lauded as one of the most talented players in the league, it’s clear that something special is brewing in Southern California.

Herbert suffered a high ankle sprain earlier this season; It was such a serious injury that Harbaugh and Roman separately said Herbert was playing “20 percent.”

“He’s a real tough cat,” quarterback Taylor Heinicke said. “The point is that he wanted to practice during those weeks. He wants to get every rep, he loves football.

“I’ve been around long enough to know where you can find guys looking for excuses like this,” Heinicke added. “He wants to be out there, he wants to be with his guys. He wants to compete.”

On the field, Herbert regained his health and once again developed into one of the game’s best playmakers.

He threw for 1,889 yards and 11 touchdowns and only one interception. That 11-1 TD:INT mark currently ranks as the sixth-best ratio for a single season in NFL history.

This is another example of how impressive Herbert is, especially considering how much the Bolts put on his plate on a weekly basis.

After a recent practice, Day listed a long checklist that Herbert was responsible for; these included being able to shoot any throw on the field, checking in on the run game, and making sure the guard was aligned up front.

“We want Justin to do everything. Make plays, win games,” Day said. “He’s the best point guard I’ve ever seen.”

Slater agreed: “She elevates those around her through her natural leadership and just being herself. She’s a relentless worker and will always challenge you. We have so much respect for her.”

Herbert aims to improve the Bolts to 7-3 as the Chargers prepare for the first matchup with Cincinnati.

If this happens, it might be time to start talking about When and not if The Bolts will make the playoffs in Year 1 under Harbaugh.

And of course, what ‘Football Justin’ has in store for the end of the season.

“I’ll do anything if it wakes up the team,” Herbert said.
