19-year-old in critical condition after crash involving semitrailer in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after police say his vehicle crashed into a semitrailer early this morning.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 21 and US 20.

Deputies said the 19-year-old driver was traveling southbound on County Road 21 in a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu when he collided with a trailer pulled by a 2005 Peterbilt Semi traveling westbound on US 20.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 19-year-old man from Goshen, was taken to the hospital with internal injuries that are said to be life-threatening.

The 32-year-old Ohio man driving the semi was not injured in the crash. Police said the trailer suffered minimal damage.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Team is still investigating this crash.
