PINE VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) – A driver was killed in a rollover crash off Interstate 8 in the Far East late Wednesday night.

At approximately 11:48 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to an area off eastbound I-8 between Pine Valley and the Sunrise Freeway after receiving a report of a vehicle crash.

Officers arrived to find a wrecked car off the highway and bushes burning nearby.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and used the Jaws of Life to cut through the roof of the car to reach the driver.

However, it was determined that the unidentified driver died in the vehicle.

CHP is investigating the reasons that led to the accident and the death of the driver.
