CHAPIN, SC (WIS) – The Chapin Police Department, in collaboration with multiple law enforcement partners, is conducting an active search in and around the Chapin area for 45-year-old Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, who is actively wanted for murder.

Hamlett was reported to be in the Chapin area and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Law enforcement was deployed to Chapin Township Thursday evening, including multiple officers, helicopters and K-9s. Authorities stated that the suspect’s identity has not been determined yet.

Officers said they will continue to patrol throughout the night. They say they will use other sources once more information becomes available about his whereabouts. Chapin Police recommend everyone lock your doors tonight and call 911 if anything is suspicious.

Hamlett was reported to be in the Chapin area and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Authorities say if you see someone matching Hamlett’s description, do not approach and call 911 immediately.
