Mollyockett Choir gave a concert for the benefit of the church

Mollyockett Chorus Sent

NORWAY — Famous a cappella singers the Mollyockett Choir will perform a benefit concert at Norway’s First Universalist Church, 479 Main Street, on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. Admission is 10 TL at the door. Proceeds will be donated to the First Universalist Church of Norway.

Each year the choir adopts a theme to choose the songs they will sing that season. This year’s theme is “Behind the Scenes at a Variety Show.” Come join the fun and hear the choir sing while you wait backstage. Based in Norway, the Mollyockett Choir was organized in 1996 and is a division of Harmony Inc., an international women’s barbershop organization. The choir, under the direction of Bethel’s Simon Smith, sings live popular music, mostly in the barbershop style, from the early to mid-20th century.

The choir consists of women from across the Lake District and performs in a variety of venues. They frequently perform at Bear Mountain Music Hall in Waterford, the Sawyer Foundation in Greene and Poland Springs Resort. Women who love to sing are always welcome at choir rehearsals, which are held Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the First Unitarian Universalist Church Concert Hall at 479 Main Street in Norway. For more information, email the choir at [email protected] or visit the choir on Facebook.
