Suspect hospitalized after officer-involved shooting in Boise

BOISE, Idaho — A traffic stop in Boise Wednesday afternoon resulted in an officer-involved shooting.

Around 3 p.m., a BPD officer conducted a traffic stop near Division Boulevard and Howe Street. During the stop, the passenger in the vehicle gave false information to the officers. The passenger then pulled out a knife and ran into a neighborhood near S. Division Boulevard, according to police.

Officers immediately began searching for the suspect and were able to find him a few blocks away on Colorado Boulevard. Police said the suspect refused to comply with orders to lie down before charging officers with a knife.

BPD said a Boise police officer fired his weapon and shot at the suspect. They provided medical care until paramedics arrived, according to police.

The other people in the vehicle remained at the traffic stop.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital. The suspect’s condition is unknown.

Police said the scene was secured and there was no threat to the public. The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force, led by the Garden City Police Department, is investigating the incident.
