Los Angeles Chargers There are a handful of notable free agents to consider in the 2025 NFL free agency period, like Khalil Mack, let alone some tough decisions on players like Joey Bosa.

This leaves cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. a little bit under the proverbial radar.

Mostly anyway. on ESPN, Matt Bowen and Jeremy Fowler was among the top 25 upcoming free agents, and Samuel was ranked 14th on the list.

“Samuel has a playmaking mentality at the corner position with quickness of his feet and quick closing speed to intercept the ball,” Bowen wrote. “A shoulder injury limited Samuel to just four games this season, but he had six interceptions and 26 pass breakups during his four years with the Chargers.”

Samuel is a really interesting topic for the Chargers. Former second-round pick showed flashes, but Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh remains mum on whether he’ll actually return this season.

Rookies in fifth round with Samuel out Tarheeb Still and Cam Hart had big breaks.

So it’s hard to say whether Samuel is in the Harbaugh regime’s long-term plans. But if not, there will be plenty of other teams the former Florida State star is interested in, according to insiders.
