Authorities in Cambria County said a detached garage in the 200 block of Strayer Street burst into flames early Wednesday morning, causing significant structural damage, including a partial roof collapse.

Emergency officials said the fire was first reported around 8:15 a.m. by West End EMS, who noticed smoke coming from the property while returning from another call.

First responders saw that the garage was completely engulfed and the flames were quickly spreading to the roof of the building.

The homeowner, who was reportedly sleeping in a nearby house at the time, escaped uninjured as no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, the investigation is ongoing. Emergency crews are working to secure the area and determine what caused the fire.
