Man Reportedly Dead After Apparent Medical Emergency on Ryanair Flight

A man has reportedly died after suffering an apparent medical emergency during a Ryanair flight.

The person, whose name has not been publicly disclosed, was on flight RK8293 from Tirana, Albania, to Manchester, England, on Sunday, November 10, when the incident occurred. Independent And Manchester Evening News.

The flight was diverted to London Stansted Airport, where emergency crews met the aircraft just before 20:00 local time.

Attempts were made to save the passenger’s life, but he reportedly died at the scene. Metro reported.

A passenger on the plane claimed the man began “having a convulsion” and was carried to the aisle where CPR was performed by multiple people. Manchester Evening News.

“He stopped breathing and everything turned into chaos,” the passenger said. “A few of us with first aid training rushed to help and started CPR while the defibrillator was being set up.

According to the passenger, life-saving measures were taken for approximately an hour after the man’s medical emergency began.

Approximately an hour after passengers were taken off the plane, they were taken back to the plane to complete their flight. The man and his friends were not among them.

“I asked and was told unfortunately the man didn’t make it,” the passenger told the outlet. “I was devastated when I learned the sad news”

An ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle, a paramedic car and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance responded to Sunday’s emergency, a spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service told the Independent.

They confirmed the man died at the scene “despite the best efforts of everyone involved”.

Neither the East of England Ambulance Service nor Ryanair immediately responded to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
