Police identify suspect in fatal vehicle rollover on Main Street

After an extensive investigation, the Moose Jaw Police Department charged 26-year-old Tyrel Cronan in connection with the single-vehicle rollover that occurred on November 7th.

MOOSE JAW — After an extensive investigation, the Moose Jaw Police Department has charged 26-year-old Tyrel Cronan in connection with a single-vehicle rollover that occurred on Nov. 7.

At approximately 11:42 pm that day, the Moose Jaw Police Service received a report of a driver driving erratically in Moose Jaw.w.

An MJPS officer observed the vehicle traveling northbound on North Main Street at a high rate of speed at 11:49 p.m. The vehicle then struck a meridian in the 1300 block of North Main Street, causing the vehicle to roll over.

As a result of the accident, it was determined that the 31-year-old male passenger died at the scene, while Cronan and the other person in the vehicle were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Cronan is charged with impaired driving causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and evading police.

He was arrested and made his first appearance in Moose Jaw District Court on November 12.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has been notified of the police response prior to the collision and is investigating police actions during this incident.

The Moose Jaw Police Department is fully cooperating with SIRT and will have no further comment on the investigation.
