Graying of hair with age is a natural process, but many people find it undesirable because it can affect the self-confidence and personality of working individuals. Many people use chemical-based hair dyes to dye their hair, which gives quick results but can cause hair loss and fading over time.

In such cases, an easy and affordable ayurvedic method not only darkens hair naturally but also keeps it healthy.

Ayurvedic Method for Black Hair

Ayurveda expert Dr Balkrishna told Local18 that household ingredients such as amla, liquorice, tea leaves, coffee and curry leaves can darken hair effectively. These natural ingredients not only help prevent darkening of hair, but also strengthen it and maintain its health. Especially the tannins in tea leaves contribute to the coloring of the hair. This mixture is completely natural and safer than other chemical dyes.

How to Make Ayurvedic Hair Dye Using Tea Leaves?

Dr Balkrishna recommends preparing a hair darkening mixture using curry leaves, liquorice, amla, coffee powder and tea leaves.

  • Start by adding three tablespoons of tea leaves to three glasses of water and boiling over low heat.
  • When the water reduces by half, strain and cool.
  • Add 50 grams of amla powder, 25 grams of licorice powder and 10 grams of curry leaf powder and coffee powder and mix well.
  • Place this mixture in an iron container overnight.
  • The next day, apply the mixture thoroughly to your hair and let it dry for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Rinse with plain water (avoid shampooing at this stage).

Benefits of the Mixture

According to Dr Balkrishna, the combination of tea leaves, amla, liquorice and curry leaves darken hair naturally without the use of chemicals, hence it does not harm the health of the hair. This mixture strengthens hair follicles and reduces hair loss. The antioxidants in tea leaves add shine while keeping the hair healthy. Unlike chemical dyes, this natural remedy ensures that the hair is long-lasting, thick and strong, making it an effective and healthy alternative to maintain hair color and health.

Disadvantages of Chemical Hair Dyes

Dr Balkrishna also mentions that chemical hair dyes can cause allergies, dryness, itching and rashes in some people. Additionally, constant use of these dyes can cause naturally black hair to turn white over time.
