Man and woman found dead inside a car riddled with bullets on the sidewalk next to an abandoned Birmingham house

A man and a woman were shot to death in southwest Birmingham Tuesday night.

The victims were among several shootings in the city over several hours. Including a teenager who suffered life-threatening injuries outside Woodlawn High School.

Sergeant. LaQuitta Wade said police were alerted to a vehicle stopped on the sidewalk of an abandoned house in the 1300 block of Princeton Avenue SW. The caller reported multiple bullet holes in the car.

Officers approached the sedan and found the victims unresponsive inside the car.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.

Wade said a passerby noticed the vehicle slowly moving backwards and stopped on the sidewalk in front of two vacant houses.

Wade said no one reported hearing gunshots.

The double homicide was the city’s 137th and 138th homicides this year. Of these, 10 were deemed justified and therefore not considered crimes.

The city on Monday surpassed the total number of homicides in Birmingham for all of last year when a 45-year-old man was shot and killed while driving on Parkway East.

Anyone with information about Tuesday’s double homicide is asked to call homicide detectives at 205-2541764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
