Amsterdam police warn of possible new unrest in the city after last week’s anti-Semitic attacks

A senior Amsterdam police officer warned on Tuesday that the city was hearing calls for unrest similar to those heard last week when a group of Palestinian protesters attacked Israeli fans outside a football match.

In response, taxi drivers tried to unite online and target a casino where 400 Israeli fans were present, but police managed to avoid a major confrontation.

Following the match, Israeli protesters were seen “running around with sticks and destroying things,” according to the report. But pro-Palestinian protesters also “moved in small groups on foot, scooter or car, quickly attacking (Israeli) fans before disappearing,” according to the City Hall timeline.

Police said there has been a tense atmosphere in the city since the attacks. A total of eight people, aged between 16 and 37, were detained due to the violent incidents last week.
