LOUISVILLE, Ky. — At least 11 employees were hospitalized and residents were asked to shelter in place after an explosion at a workplace in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday.

News sources reported that neighbors heard an explosion coming from a business that produces soft drink ingredients. Overhead news video footage showed an industrial building with a large hole in its roof.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known.

Multiple agencies responded to a “large-scale incident,” the Louisville Fire Department said in a post on social platform X.

Louisville Metro Emergency Services urged people within a mile of the business to shelter in place.
