Chicago police said an officer was stabbed Monday night after a stabbing victim called police for help in the South Shore neighborhood.

Around 11 p.m., a man with a stab wound to his body called police for help in the 1500 block of East 75th Street. Police said the victim knew the person who stabbed him, and as officers were trying to detain him, one of them was stabbed in the arm.

It was learned that the officer, who was taken to a hospital in the region, was in good condition. During the incident, the attacker was detained and arrested.
