Authorities are interested in World War II ammunition found in Beatrice’s home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Authorities found dozens of World War II-era ammunition at Beatrice’s home on Thursday, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

The Beatrice Police Department reported finding 40 rounds of ammunition in the home of a deceased man.

The NSP Bomb Squad and members of the Nebraska Air National Guard’s 155th EOD unit responded to the home and determined all munitions to be ineffective.

“Fortunately in this case, none of the objects were live ammunition, but it is not safe to assume there were any potentially explosive materials you might find,” said Sgt. Clayton Dishong, NSP Bomb Squad Commander. “If you encounter any potential explosive device while cleaning a loved one’s home or in any other situation, call 911 immediately and do not move the device.”

The NSP Bomb Squad and the ANG 155th EOD unit respond to dozens of situations each year where old munitions or potential explosive devices are found by family members clearing out a loved one’s belongings.
