IIT Delhi and Bombay Among Asia’s Top 50 Institutes; Three Other IITs, IISc and DU in top 100

In the QS World University Rankings 2025, IIT Delhi was recognized as the top institution in India, followed closely by IIT Bombay. The latest QS Rankings highlight India’s impressive rise in higher education across Asia, with two institutions in the top 50 and seven institutions in the top 100.

IIT Delhi boasts an employer reputation score of 99 percent, rising to 44th rank from 46th last year. IIT Bombay was ranked 48th globally with an employer reputation score of 99.5 percent and an academic reputation score of 96.6 percent.

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) made the biggest jump among Indian institutions, rising 70 places to 148th. NDTV reported.

The other five Indian institutions in the top 100 include IIT Madras (56), IIT Kharagpur (60), Indian Institute of Science (62), IIT Kanpur (67) and Delhi University (81).

Additionally, institutions like IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Chandigarh University (120), UPES (148) and Vellore Institute of Technology are also in the top 150.

Delhi University has also made significant progress, rising from 94th to 81st rank and scoring 96.4 percent on the International Research Network. Anna University received a perfect score of 100 on the “Articles per Faculty” measure, reflecting its strong research output.

Nearly 15 universities in India scored above 99 percent in the “Staff with PhD” indicator, highlighting the high quality of teaching and learning standards.

In particular, Northeastern Hill University and Bangalore University of Agricultural Sciences achieved a perfect score of 100 on the faculty-student ratio indicator, underlining their commitment to academic excellence.
