Missing Harper’s truck found in rural Barber County

BARBER COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) – The Barber County Sheriff’s Office confirms items of interest were found during the search for David Reese.

The 73-year-old man has been missing from Harper, Kansas, since August 2, 2024. Friends believe he and his dog went on a trip in the country, but Reese never returned home.

On Sunday, deputies found Reese’s truck near an area previously searched and thought to be too remote.

The sheriff’s office said dispatchers were notified that a white Chevrolet pickup truck was found in a creek bed in rural Barber County near Little Mule and Hardtner Shortcut.

Deputies arriving at the scene confirmed that the vehicle belonged to Reese. Great Plains Search and Rescue K9 (GPSK9) was called to assist in a search of the area Monday morning.

The sheriff’s officer said there would be no further searches as of Monday evening. More details are expected to be announced later this week.
