Kasganj: In the tragic incident that took place on Tuesday morning in Rampur village in Mohanpura district of Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh, at least four women lost their lives when an earthen mound suddenly collapsed during excavation.

The accident occurred at a construction site on the under-construction National Highway 530-B, where a group of women had gathered to dig for yellow soil traditionally used to plaster their homes and mud stoves on Devotthan Ekadashi.

According to local people, while they were busy collecting soil, a mud wall collapsed unexpectedly, causing the mound to collapse and fall on the women gathered there. The incident resulted in around 15-20 women being buried under the mound.

Local authorities have so far confirmed that four women have died and 10 to 15 have been seriously injured. While the injured victims are currently undergoing treatment at the local hospital in Kasganj, two seriously injured women have also been referred to Aligarh for specialized care.

Citizens in the area who heard the news of the collapse flocked to the area for rescue efforts. Police quickly mobilized heavy machinery to speed up the process of extracting those trapped under the mound.

Working together with the villagers, they managed to save many women. An eyewitness described the chaotic scene: “When a group of women went to dig soil, the mound suddenly collapsed, burying most of them. “We immediately called for help and started digging with the tools we could find.”

The doctor at the regional hospital said, “Nine women have been brought so far. Unfortunately, four were pronounced dead on arrival. “The condition of two of them is critical and they have been shifted to a hospital in Aligarh.”

One survivor described his harrowing experience: “I went to dig with others and suddenly everything collapsed. “Some of us managed to escape, but some of us remained underground.”

uttar pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath He expressed his deep sorrow for the tragic loss of life. He instructed regional officials to provide immediate medical treatment to the injured and to go to the area to supervise relief efforts.

Senior district officials reached the region to oversee relief and rescue operations. An investigation was launched to determine the cause of the collapse and whether safety protocols were followed during the excavation.
