Walgreens near Milwaukee’s Timmerman Airport will close Dec. 3, city councilman says

The Walgreens on Milwaukee’s northwest side near Timmerman Airport will close its doors Dec. 3, according to Ald. Lamont Westmoreland.

Westmoreland, the retail and pharmacy giant’s 5201 N. 91st St. He said the decision to close this location at will “impact residents’ access to prescriptions, healthcare, and essential products.”

Westmoreland asks voters to plan ahead.

“Now is the time to connect with your healthcare team to seek alternative pharmacy options—whether that means transferring prescriptions to another Walgreens location or exploring nearby non-Walgreens pharmacies,” he said.

“As your council member, I am actively working to bring additional pharmacy options to our district to meet the needs of the community and ensure everyone has access to the medications and healthcare resources they trust.”

This is the second Milwaukee location that Walgreens has closed since announcing plans to close Approximately 1,200 stores by 2027 and 500 stores by the end of next year.

The Walgreens at South Layton Boulevard and West National Boulevard on the south side was supposed to close in mid-November, but It closed suddenly early on October 18th. The company said this was “due to a variety of criminal activity at the store” and that the pharmacy’s drive-thru remains open.

Walgreens did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the closure of its North 91st Street and West Appleton Avenue location. There are two nearby Milwaukee locations on West Capitol Drive. One highway 100 and one more North 76th Street.
