A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after four people were injured with a corrosive substance.

According to Kent Police, a group was involved in a disturbance on Mansion Street, Margate, shortly before 01:15 GMT on Saturday.

During the incident, police say a man sprayed others with a liquid believed to be a strong alkaline.

Two people suffered facial injuries and two others suffered redness and irritation on their faces or chests.

Police said a 19-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of assault on Monday and remains in custody while investigations continue.

When officers arrived at the scene on Saturday, a bottle believed to contain the substance used was found.
