‘Triple epidemic’ fears as RSV vaccine rolls out in Sussex

Vaccines for RSV, Covid-19 and flu have been available since mid-September but health and care leaders in Sussex are concerned that many eligible people are left unprotected.

Dr D., a GP and clinical director at NHS Sussex. Bikram Raychaudhuri said the vaccines are being rolled out together because “all together they create what we feared, a triple epidemic.”

He described this as “three viruses circulating in society at the same time, holding hands and unfortunately wanting to create havoc.”

NHS Sussex said eligible people can book an appointment via the NHS website, the NHS App or by calling 119.

It said: “Although GP surgeries and other local NHS services have already invited more than 11 million people to come forward and will continue to reach out to them, eligible people should book now and not wait for an invitation.”
