KENTON/BOONE COUNTY, KY (WXIX) – A woman who survived 40 years of brutal torture and rape feared for her safety because she didn’t know the identity of her attacker.

Thanks to the work of two detectives, the case was solved.

Now, for the first time, one of the investigators explains how the victim’s memory and a single piece of evidence helped them close the case, and the victim shares her powerful story of survival.
